Little Box Big Tree

simple poem depicting the loss of friendship.

-------------------

There was a time when we were free,
Sitting under the big oak tree
Laughing, crying, singing together
Under the big oak tree.

Joys and sorrows, smiles and tears,
We put them into a little box,
Wrote our names on the cover,
Buried it under wooden lock.

People come and people go -
I told you I was moving away.
We pledged not to forget each other
Under the big oak tree.

I haven't forgotten our vow
Though the tree has fallen by now.
Sun of April and leaves of May
Kept still in that little box.
